Sake Tasting & Takoyaki Cooking with a Sake Sommelier
Seven or more sakes with an English-speaking sommelier while you cook your own takoyaki.

Osaka’s sake experiences are built around its love of food: sake with takoyaki you cook yourself, guided nine-sake flights near Dotonbori, and a brewery visit near Umeda. The big brewery districts of Nada and Fushimi are both within an hour.

Most Osaka listings are tastings rather than brewery visits. A sommelier walks you through seven to nine sakes, usually with snacks or a cooking element, in Namba, Sennichimae or Dotonbori. They are a good evening activity and need no travel.
For brewery visits, Osaka works best as a base. Nada in Kobe and Nishinomiya are reached directly on the Hanshin line, Fushimi in Kyoto is under an hour away by Keihan train, and Itami, one of the oldest sake towns in the region, is close to Osaka’s airport.
Choose the takoyaki class if you want something hands-on and fun with friends; choose a seated flight if you want to learn to read labels and find a style you like. Check whether food is included, as some tastings serve only small snacks.
One listing visits a brewery near the Umeda Sky Building, but most breweries in the region are in Nada (Kobe and Nishinomiya), Itami and Fushimi.
Nada is the easiest: direct Hanshin trains reach the brewery museums in about 30 minutes, and several are free.
More in the region: Kansai sake tours.
